Polish producers proposed the option of admitting Ukrainian sugar to the EU market

A new offer from Polish producers can open up new opportunities for the Ukrainian sugar market. Currently, Ukraine produces a significant amount of sugar, but some of it has to be exported outside the European Union due to restrictions imposed by the free trade agreement with the EU. Polish producers offer their Ukrainian colleagues to jointly solve this problem and introduce the admission of Ukrainian sugar to the European market.

According to data, Ukraine produces about 2 million tons of sugar per year, but only half of it can be exported to the EU due to established quotas. This creates problems for Ukrainian manufacturers, who are forced to look for other sales markets for their products. The offer of Polish producers can help solve this problem and ensure stable access of Ukrainian sugar to the European market.

According to representatives of the Polish side, cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish sugar producers can be beneficial for both sides. Poland has extensive experience in sugar production and a developed infrastructure for its processing, while Ukraine is one of the largest sugar producers in Europe. Joint entry into the EU market can allow both countries to increase sugar exports and gain additional profits.

The Ukrainian side notes that this proposal is a step in the direction of expanding export opportunities for Ukrainian sugar producers. Currently, they send sugar mainly to countries in Africa and the Middle East, but the EU markets are important for the further development of Ukraine's sugar industry. The introduction of an agreement on the admission of Ukrainian sugar to the European market can be the first step towards deepening cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in this area.

However, not all experts support the idea of introducing the admission of Ukrainian sugar to the EU market. Some point out that this could have a negative impact on domestic sugar producers in the EU, reducing their competitiveness. It is also noted that Ukrainian manufacturers must meet EU requirements regarding product quality and environmental friendliness, which can be a difficult task for many of them.
