On the Ukrainian market, onion prices continue to rise, key market players note. During the current week, trading activity in the onion segment increased slightly, which allowed sellers to raise prices again. It is worth noting that the owners of high-quality onions, whose volumes on the market continue to decrease, decided to make positive adjustments.

According to EastFruit, since the end of last week, prices for onions in Ukrainian farms have increased by 19% on average. Today, farmers offer high-quality onions for 14-22 hryvnias per kilogram, while a week ago their price did not exceed 18 hryvnias per kilogram.

Project experts see the reason for this new price increase as a significant demand for onions, as well as complaints about the insufficient supply of high-quality products, which are increasingly coming from market participants.

Despite the price increase, it is worth noting that the price of onions in Ukraine today is on average 58% lower than in May 2023. However, market participants do not rule out that onion prices will continue to rise, and the rate of price increase may accelerate with the reduction of stocks in farm warehouses.
