An environmental tragedy has occurred in one of the most beautiful parts of Odesa Oblast, near Lake Katlabukh. As a result of the fish freeze, a large number of dead fish were found on the Zheliavsky Canal, which connects Lake Katlabukh to the Danube River. This was immediately reported by the press service of the Odesa fish patrol.

The fish patrol team, together with representatives of the State Ecological Inspectorate of the South-Western District and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, went to the scene to thoroughly analyze the situation and establish the causes of this massive fish kill. The inspection of the canal was shocking in its scale: large accumulations of dead crucian carp were found in the reservoir, as well as individual specimens of pike perch, roach, pike and roach.

Due to the emergency situation, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection took fish samples for further research and identification of the cause of this massive death of aquatic life. At the same time, ecologists collected water samples from the canal for laboratory analysis to determine the state of the environment and possible contamination.

The fish kill is an alarming signal of environmental problems that can affect not only water resources but also human health. It is important to investigate such cases in a timely and comprehensive manner and take measures to prevent similar environmental disasters in the future. Active cooperation of all structures is required, as well as public support and participation in preserving the environment for future generations.
